Movements from below have always been the keepers of the necessary keys opening the doors for a just, more equitable world. This conversation will unpack the various ways artists and local twin cities organizations keep the enthusiasm of freedom movements alive and supported.
is to harness the diverse experiences of people to make meaningful
connections that advance equity and ensure a better future for us all.
In this time of disruption and demand for reinvention forging meaningful connections between people, issues and ideas can be challenging. There is a human need to come together in new ways. Individuals, organizations and communities across the world are asking 'What must we do to dismantle disparities? ' Awareness has been raised and people are moved to demand change. But change will not come without cultivating one's own and others' diverse and untapped human potential to collectively drive it.
Consider this analogy:
Diversity means having space for people with different backgrounds, perspectives and experiences at the table.
Inclusion means inviting and welcoming their ideas at the table.
Equity means everyone working together to make a new table.
Making the table or (insert your equity goal here) requires us to plan, organize, strategize and mobilize together in ways that leverage our best talents and strengths.
….“Inclusion is involvement and empowerment, where the inherent worth and dignity of all people are recognized. An inclusive organization promotes and sustains a sense of belonging; it values and practices respect for the talents, beliefs, backgrounds, and ways of living of its members.”
We create space for people to explore what it takes to advance equity together in our workplaces, neighborhoods and communities. Our approach leverages the powers of personal story, the arts, media, movement and humor to engage individuals in head and heart connections that promote deeper understanding of self and others.
